SAMARIA, Satrap issue, 375-345 B.C., silver half (hemi) obol, 0.19 grams, Meshorer & Qedar `Coinage of Samaria' (CS) CS 4 (15 known), Samaria Hoard NO.35 (This Coin) (p.72 Pl.18), obv. head of satrap to l., wearing Persian tiara, border of dots, rev. Persian king walking to r., holding sceptre or dagger, on l., [9 reversed, O Delta. Fine and very rare.

Ex Samaria Hoard (35) and Sotheby, Zurich Sale Oct. 27-8, 1993, (lot 986 part). $$ The discovery of this hoard and the finds of a few other specimnens, established the existance of a series for a country and era never previously recognised in the published literature.
