BALBINUS, (238 A.D.), AE sestertius, (18.17 g), obv. laureate draped cuirassed bust right, around IMP CAES D CAEL BALBINVS AVG, rev. around [LIBERALITAS AVGVSTORVM], in exergue S C, Balbinus, Pupienus and Gordian III seated on raised platform, behind them, a soldier standing with spear, before them Liberalitas standing left, holding abacus and cornucopiae, a citizen mounting steps to receive the largesse, (S. 8495, RIC 14, RSC 13, BMC 5). Light green patina, surface roughness, nearly fine and extremely rare.
