SOUTH AUSTRALIAN VOLUNTEERS MARKSMANS MEDAL, 1860, in silver (32mm) with no suspension, inscribed on reverse 'Private/W.P.Dunk/Marksman/1860' and around edge 'Milang Rifle Company'. Very fine and rare.

T.W. Thomas, merchant, mail contractor and shipowner. Born in Brompton, UK on 16 July 1838 he arrived in South Australia in 1858, moving to Milang in 1859. Thomas was a Private in the Milang Volunteers, as a marksman he was one of its foremost champions for several years.
